In Hokkaido, you can visit the northern most and eastern most points of Japan main islands. Refer to the list of extreme points below.
Cape Soya (宗谷岬) was considered the northernmost point of Hokkaido. The weather was good, it was a sunny 15.3 degrees celcius. From here, one might be able to see the russian island Sakhalin (about 43km away)
Around here, as well as Wakkani, one would see everything claiming to be the "northernmost", including rail station, ramen shop, school, etc
As we drove south, we passed by the Soya wind farm consisting of 57 turbines. Each had a height of 68m. This was the largest wind farm I had seen.
