Niseko Brewery 二世古酒造

We would be staying at Noboribetsu for the night, but we decided to go around Niseko, down to Toya, and then to Noboribetsu.

Niseko is a famous destination for Singaporeans that come Hokkaido for skiing. Niseko is written in katakana ニセコ. This actually came from the Ainu language, in short meaning river in the canyon.

While people come here for skiing, we headed to the Niseko brewery (二世古酒造) . This brewery was founded in 1916, so slightly over 100 years old. It also called itself as a famous brewery at the foot of Mount Yotei (羊蹄). The sakes were made from waters from the mountain.

In the brewery office, there were a wide variety of sakes, shochus that you could taste. We were greeted by an obaasan that told us to help ourselves with any of the alcohol. Of course, we ended up buying a few.
