Amaebi Fukuyoshi 福よし

Amaebi (sweet shrimp) is one of the specialty seafood along this part of Hokkaido. We found an eatery for this just across Kunimare brewery. We reached Mashike at around 10am and parked our car just outside the eatery. It only opened at 11am, so we went to visit the brewery first.

We ordered a bowl of amaebi. You could see how big the head and small the body was.

We also ordered a bowl of chirashi with 17 different kinds of seafood.

Kunimare Sake Brewery (国稀酒造)

Kunimare Sake Brewery (国稀酒造) was the northernmost sake brewery in Japan. At the brewery, there was exhibits and a souvenir shop.

There was sake tasting available further in the shop. Its website had a map and explanation in English.

The brewery was located in Mashike, a port town next to the sea. Seafood here were known to be fresh, big and cheap.
