菜の花畑

We went for a morning walk around the hotel after breakfast. Just about 15min later, we saw many plots of yellow fields. Initially we thought that there were people working in the fields. Later we realised these were just figurines (scarecrows?).

The yellow coloured plants were Nanohana (菜の花).  It is a Japanese vegetable also known as nabana (菜花), or rapeseed. One could pick and take home a bag of the nanohana, and deposit 100 JPY into the coin box.
